The outreach agent sent one draft to 1,780 leads

This report replays the campaign from its Aftercast recording. Drag the playhead to the moment the enrichment tool started answering with empty profiles.

Summary

The tool didn't fail loudly. It returned an empty answer, and the agent filled the gap.

The tool didn't fail loudly. It returned an empty answer, and the agent filled the gap.

What happened

The agent was writing a personal first line for each of 2,600 webinar leads. Fifteen minutes in, the enrichment service hit its rate limit and began returning empty profiles with a success code.

With nothing to go on, the agent reused its most recent draft, written for one logistics company. It kept doing so for the next 35 minutes. Replies, not dashboards, raised the alarm.

Findings

F1. A cached error looked like data

Over its rate limit, the enrichment tool returned 200 OK with an empty profile instead of an error.

F2. The prompt rewarded sending

“Every lead gets an email today” left the agent no honest way to skip a lead.

F3. Nothing compared outgoing emails

1,780 near-identical emails went out and no step checked for repeats before sending.

Recommendations

Make tools fail loudly on empty data, give the agent a sanctioned way to skip a lead, and block an outgoing email that is near-identical to one already sent in the same run.
